Analysis Of Lecturers' Performances Based On Students' Perceptions


ANALYSIS OF LECTURERS’ PERFORMANCES IN HIGHER COLLEGE BASED ON STUDENTS' PERCEPTION

ABSTRACT
Dicki Hartanto. The objectives of this management research are : a) To know the lecturers’ performance b) To know The Importance Performance Analysis from the Lecturers’ Performance Criteria c) To get the actual data about factors supporting the improvements of the lecturers’ performance and institutional performance, and d) To have general information about institutional performance from students’ opinion through SWOT analysis.   

From the survey data obtained from this research, it is expressed that   the total amount of the lecturers’ performance is 5469 with Mean value 84.54 or 70.11%. This indicates that the lecturers’ performance is in the Middle Category of performance. 

From the Importance Performance Analysis of 30 sub-criteria of lecturers’ performance, it is known that the first priority of lecturers’ performance is indicated by both of the number 6 and 26 or with the percentage of 87.31% (Score : 227). The criteria for performance number 6  and 26 are Responsibility and Leadership.

From the student’s perceptions of institutional performance, it is summarized that the best factor affecting good performance of lecturers is Lecturers’ Knowledge, while based on students’ opinion that Male Lecturer is better than female one, The step with best priority for lecturers to improve their performance is by continuing education, but the students believed that the lecturers’ performance can improve. Related to the party responsible for performance improvement is the lecturers or educators themselves. Beside it, the students responded that To Study Diligently is the main factor to improve students’ ability. Most students agree that they should advance their careers after completing study in this institution. This is reasonable since most of them expressed that they study in this college for the reason of their ability and science understanding  improvement.

From the SWOT analysis of students’ opinion show that almost half of the students or between 72,9% - 77,7% agree that this institution should evaluate the criteria of SWOT. These SWOT criteria are very important for the educational institution to make its planning of performance improvements.
